What I build on a factory floor

Every block is a pain I have heard on the floor and what I build for it. AI shows up inside the blocks where it honestly helps — and only there.

Line quality and wrong-part mix-ups

Wrong components end up in the product; the defect is found late and expensively.

I build the guard into the line itself (MES integration): a mismatch is blocked at the moment of the operation. Scanning, serial tracking.

+ AI: machine vision for visual inspection — where a scanner has nothing to scan.

Marking and traceability (track & trace)

Export markets require serialisation and reporting; vendor products are expensive and bend your processes to fit them.

I design and build marking around your lines and your accounting: codes, aggregation, regulator reporting, ERP integration. The largest block of my experience — including a portal for 30 manufacturers, launched in 4 months.

Anti-counterfeiting and channel control

Your product gets counterfeited and distributors resell into other channels — the plant loses money and reputation.

Authenticity checks by serial number and sales-channel control: a chat bot where a seller or a buyer punches in a number and sees whether the batch is legal and where it came from. For export brands (wine, spirits) this lands directly.

Maintenance and planned repairs

Equipment stops unplanned, technicians work from memory, repair history lives in notebooks.

Planned maintenance scheduling, runtime and defect tracking, mobile tools for the technician down to a Telegram bot: work order, checklist and instruction in the fitter’s phone.

+ AI: an assistant over instructions and repair history — “ask how to replace the unit” instead of digging through folders.

Production events: incidents, safety, non-conformances

Incidents and violations are recorded on paper, reviews accumulate no experience, corrective actions get lost.

Event tracking (quality, safety, process) with review routes, statistics and follow-up control. Operating experience stops dying in logbooks.

Briefings and knowledge

Safety briefings are a formality, nobody can find the standard operating procedures, newcomers learn from whoever is nearby.

Briefing and training systems, a knowledge base of procedures and operating experience. Hazardous-industry calibre: training systems that prepared ~1,500 commissioning specialists for nuclear plants.

+ AI: an assistant over your internal documents (RAG) — answers from your own procedures, around the clock; proven on a system used by 87% of a company’s staff.

Around the control system: integration and reporting

Telemetry lives inside the process-control loop and never reaches the people who make decisions.

I integrate that loop with corporate systems and build reporting on its data: line summaries, downtime, energy — on the director’s dashboard.

An honest boundary: I do not design or assemble the process-control loop itself — I work around it, together with your instrumentation people and your automation contractor.

Laboratory and R&D (LIMS)

Tests and formulations live in the lab technicians’ spreadsheets; history is lost.

LIMS and R&D systems: tracking of tests, samples and tolerances; integration with production accounting. Experience: an automation model for a testing laboratory that became the basis of a LIMS project.

Commissioning and site start-up

On a site under construction or modernisation, commissioning drowns in paper: hundreds of systems, thousands of tests and protocols, several sites and contractors — nobody sees the whole status.

I build commissioning and start-up support systems: tracking of works and tests, protocols, documentation, a consolidated status across sites for the construction HQ. Top-tier experience: a corporate commissioning portal in the nuclear industry — ~3,000 users, 4 plant construction sites, 7 branches, including support for the start-up of a plant within an international project; acceptance testing passed first time.

A working system on one line or process step, and a before/after number. Not a presentation — a working system.

Roll-out and partnership

Rolling it out to the remaining areas, support, the next processes.

I have spent enough time on a shop floor to know: a system the shift supervisor did not accept does not work, whatever the acceptance papers say. So I roll systems out with people, not over them.
